I've been trying to find a screensaver that will dim my windows desktop slowly like mac osx does. so far i've found a program called Power Dimmer, but it's not the best, sometimes it doesnt dim the cursor.
Does anyone know of a screensaver that will just dim the screen?
And if not, whats the easiest way to make one? I'm not a programmer, but i'm guessing a software for making screensavers might exist to do that...?
any suggestions?

Does anyone know how to get a little password box to display on mouse movement on windows xp, without going to the startup login screen thing.
edit: never mind, a few tweakings in the xp control panel sorted it out. 
The PHM one works really well for me. I have a follow-on question: does anybody know of a way to combine two screensavers - I'd really like it if I could have my screen dim after 2 or 3 minutes, and then have, say, the Flurry screensaver start up after another 5. Possible?

that's a nice one Shockme17.... only if it had way to control the speed of fading, but cool anyways.
@Zenko: You might also want to try Flurry screensaver for windows, hunt on OSX-E.com, you will get it... it has fading in as screensaver starts and fade out coming back to normal.
igo, thanks for the tip but for me it doesn't fade out, just changes instantly from screensaver to desktop.
I think I may have come accross a bug with the PHM Dark, if you set it to full Black, then it loops. It will start, get to full black, then jump to clear and start fading again.

I've always wanted this type of screen saver and never thought of looking for it because... well it seemed more a hardware feature than something someone would make? Yes, I'm sure that makes no sense, but thanks for sharing this with us, this is fantastic!

@Zenko: There are actually two versions of Flurry for Windows... PM me with your mail address, I'll send mine to you. If that also doesn't work for you, then maybe it could be hardware prob, since Flurry depends heavily on Harware OpenGL.
Yeh Satans Child.. it does work on Multiple Monitors... I got Dual Screen setup and it worked for me perfectly..

@qda: sorry mate, looks like I made mistake.... yep, it does not fade out.. it only fades in. I never noticed that, I always thought that it fades in so it must be fading out. lol.. stupid me, it's not mac afterall.
And I also checked that screen dimming one shared by shockme17, it doesn't fade out too.

How come VUpstream cant be ported? is it a permissions issue? Also, what program would you use to port it?
Well..... I'm thinking more in terms of the necessity of Quicktime 7 and Core Image just to RUN the file, let alone use it as a screensaver.
Plus...... esXXI probably wouldn't like it on Windows. He won't even port it to Panther! 
quicktime 7 is out for pc.. installed it today with iTunes 5
