[Help] PART2: Windows Explorer & opening folders

Strange coincidental timing... I'm having a similar problem as Unbeliever

I went to:

Explorer->"Folder Options"->"File Types" Tab->Selected:"File Folder"->Advanced

..and attempted to change its Icon to a different Folder Icon to see what would happen.

Well, after doing such, every shortcut/folder I click on in my computer opens an empty explorer window, with the left search panel open. I went back to the Edit File Type settings for "File Folder" and as you can see from the screenshot, the Actions entries have all gone winamp!

As you can see from the ss, I have temporarily set "Open New Windows" as default so I can atleast get unbeliever style functionality.

But I went into my other OS and checked for it's original settings (Please see screenshot below.)

Could someone please tell me how to restore the "explore" "open" Actions? I have already tried adding "New" but couldn't feel confident about adding my own without examples. For instance:

New ->

Action="explore"

Application used to perform action="C:WINDOWSexplorer.exe

Use DDE=Checked?

Also, how would I delete the winamp entries when the delete button is greyed out for those entries. (this is not as important as me getting back and assigning the correct actions, of course :) )

Thanks in advance.

ouch :P

I'll post back if this solves my problem.

EDIT: Worked like a charm I got explorer functionality back to original, And i think deleting actions would simply be deleting registry keys, and exporting/importing the correct ones from my other OS, but no sense if it aint broke :)

Sorry this still did't work for me. Made sure "Folder Advanced Options" were set to "None" and that Reg32's HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDirectoryshell was set to default; but my folders still open in seperate windows. Most annoying! :slant: Weird to cause it only happens with Folders not Drives

Hi PDidee.. I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing these problems, could you maybe post screenshots, similar to what I did above and maybe we can see if we can spot something. And as you are experiencing the issue with folders and not drives, focus on the folder settings for the screenshots. Odd since I was having problems with folders and not drives as well.

once you worked with the registry, did you go back to ss#1: "Edit file type" and try setting "none" to default? *Crosses fingers*

Also, then reboot and see if it fixes it. If it does, do not go back to that window "Edit file type" again as it may re-trigger the issue.

No good. :( Not only is there no change when I set Folders & File Folders to None; I loose the use of Kabal's Finder Bar and the drives open in different windows too. :(

EDIT: Still no luck after reboot.
