Aqua-Soft Forumshow can i decompress .hqx files? winzip and stuffit both try, and give me an error! i just downloaded about 100 mbs of icons, and i can't unpack them! someone please help!

yeah, but it has icons in it, if you can't open this on windows, how can i convert it to a win format?

Stuffit 7 extracts em find, just drag and drop...

as far as i know, no
unix/linux might have something that can read those files, but thats not my field of expertise, sorry >.<
I dont think you have your settings right on Stuffit becuase I extract hqx files all the time with no problems. Rsrc Ive never been able to open though..
Theres a tutorial at xicons.com . There are a few settings you have to tweak, check it out. Its what I used.
Give me a link and I'll see if it works for me, then I'll let you know

actually you know what? I'm interested now.. After all, themers on Mac can open the file with SOME app, right? Well, I could do the same and just extract the images etc..!

Hmm, if you tried stuffit already but it still wouldn't unstuff, then maybe the file is corrupt? I used to have a Mac and the later versions of stuffit would just take .hqx files, decompress them to the .sit files, then unstuff the .sit files automatically.
What program did you use to unstuff it? The stuffit program for Windows found on downloads.com?
Maybe there's a program specific for Windows that converts .hqx files then you can try to unstuff the .sit files (if they are .sit files then converted to .hqx)
Dude, that's alot of icons! I hope you downloaded them with broadband... What's the link? I'll give it a shot...

I had no problem using Stuffit Expander, then Iconshop, save/export to ico format. Sometimes you go from sit to hqx so you drag one firts to Stuffit then whatever you get you drag again to Stuffit. You end up with icons with no file designation meaning no .ico or .whatever. You drag that to Iconshop.
