[Question] Do Mac Minis come with the real OS X?

does mac mini comes with the real os i'mean to ask is the os dvd which comes with mac mini we can install the osx on pear pc with this dvd or we have to buy the real blackone osx tiger dvd .the mac mini comes with 2 grey looking dvdcd i don't know but they r grey in colour

other question is how to check that teh mac mini i got is not tampered as mac mini latest pieces 1.2 ghz r with 512 mb ram. how i can make sure it is not tampered hre in india.

i can't ask these qustions in india as only .5% will be knowing about mac

It comes with full OSX 10.4.2 (at the moment)

You can`t ever be sure that your mini hasn`t been tempered with.

but the cd isn't balck stark blak like shown on the website .i'm buying mac mini just for the sake of mac osx

The disk ought to be gray (the one that has the hardware test and the latest os available when the unit was ready to be sold)- You only get the black cd when you buy tiger as the os itself (The black box too)

To check that the hardware is what you paid for, go to the apple menu, about this mac and more info. See if it matches...

Yes you can restore and install the OS from that dvd. The extra dvds are just hardware test and extra apps.

Also someone I know recently bought a mac mini 1.25, and it came with panther installed, with a commercial (black) dvd for tiger (you have to upgrade yourself). This was bought from CompUSA (major electronics chain) new, so I am not sure if thats how it is shipped from Apple.

I have Mac Mini, I live in India.... if you are buying Mac Mini from Apple Authorised Reseller I doubt you would be cheated.

In fact, the CDs are not stark black that comes with mini, they are gray in color. They are OSX installation CDs but I'm not sure about installing over PearPC part, never done that. But yes, OS can be restored on your Mini using that.... I got an iBook and Mac mini, both of them have Mac OS Juguar CDs with them.

Also, the CD/DVDs come with Apple Hardwares are usually Gray in color, you get Black ones (for OS) only when you purchase OS as itself.

PS : Sorry... they are DVDs... not CDs..

Apple's support page and knowledge base should be good enough. Besides, I guess Mac OSX itself is pretty simplified for usual tasks, which I don't think you need any forums for that. Off course, simple google can reveal many.. and so far I found almost all the answers on apple's own forum.
