Googles next attempt at world domination. I really dont think the internet needs another instant messaging client, but if its anything like the rest of google it probably wont be all that bad. I wonder how customizable the interface is or how compatible it is with other chatting clients. I'm just not sure I wanna take the time to test it.

it's just gmail at the moment, never know they may add use for other emails.. Maybe..
i have gmail invites if you need it.

apparently this is an extension to jabber protocol, since you can use any jabber client to connect to google talk. or so it says on the site...
im using it through adium. seems to work ok but i dont know anyone on the network
Err, I dunno why everybody likes this... There's no video, no smileys, no games, no contact grouping, no nothing. It's only got text and (pretty good) audio.
Google Talk does not like Resource Hacker.

I've got it up and running through Miranda, so that's good. Not sure how well it works compared to the actual Google Talk client though :/
I have it connected through miranda as well ...whats weird tho is that a friend has an away message up and his away message appears in my buddy list.... its quite annoying. Anyone have any ideas whats going on?

It should work with msn, if it works with jabber, all you need to do is follow one of those tutorials (google, please) to get msn to work on jabber. Just like in iChat
Who can beat MSN? Sure the msn messenger client sucks, but which offical client doesn't suck (besides ICQ in the old days).

@IvaN: no I don't think it is an extension to Jabber.
i mean all protocoles are compatible with Jabber. (MSN, Yahoo, AIM)
But I think that is great news. They also talk about making it a multi protocole client.
