Absolutely superb, Siwu. Fast, cool, lovely, great...

Only one problem... It won't run on my Win2K3 Ent. Ed. box, not even in XP compatibility mode :(

Any suggestions anyone?

Anything I could do to help with the next version's testing, Siwu?

Oh, and before I get flames for running Win2K3 skinned et al, I have to do IIS 6/.Net development on this box, so I have no choice... But there's no way I'm gonna forego a nice UI for that :6

Well, I don't know about Win2k3, but if it's like LongHorn, the way Windows handle objects is really different than previous versions, since each object is a DirectX one. Not like in XP

If you could tell the if the WS_EX_LAYERED attribute exists in 2k3, it maybe would help :)

#28341

Weeell, Win2K3 is built on the same "Whistler" core as XP, so it should be fairly similar to XP (it'd be really cool if it was on Longhorn's core, though ;) )

Where would I find the WS_EX_LAYERED attribute? I assume it's a GDI(+) thing?

Anythin' I can do to help (or rather, get my work machine looking good ;)), I'm happy to... And I'm a developer too, so feel free to bounce ideas off'f me :D

#28349

Okay guys, there were a little problem because Visual C++ 6 doesn't support icons with an alpha channel

so I reshacked it, and reuploaded with the new icon :)

same link :)

the WS_EX_LAYERED is a window attribute set via SetWindowLong()

try to grab some prog that do transparency and see if it works :)

This is seriously turning out to be a quality app siwu. Slows a bit using pentium III machines with a low-end nVidia card but still impressive for the first few versions.

(Y)

Congratulations all around! :smartass:

#28354

I'm currently running Rainlendar and Y'z Dock, Siwu, both of which use transparency...

They seem to be fine. Nex' question...

by a prog that do transparency, I prog that makes another's program window transparents, not its own

because maybe 2k3 prevent some this kind of setting over programs, for security reasons

#28356

Great work siwu! I will keep it save untill I upgrade my graphic card, because I have a crappy Voodoo3 and I cannot demand so much from it :canadian:

#28358

Oh, ok...

Y'z shadow, for example?

I'm running that too...

no, you know an app that makes a window transparent when you click in it

look at download.com

#28360

Ok...

Sorry if I sound a bit of a ****ie - I'm trying to write a smart proxy at the moment

I've just tried "Actual Transparent Windows" v1.1 from Download.com's page for it. That works fine. Well, it makes lots of windows transparent, at least. I didn't do much else :P

Anything at all I can do to help you track it down is fine by me... Yes, I'm that bored of what I'm doing now

#28362

One thing I have noticed is that when using iblend my winfx transparency pulsing no longer works. Other then that amazing

Well, I dunno... sorry...

since I don't have 2k3 I can't find out why :/

Yes, it's normal

since WinFX is modding windows appearance, it's normal that the 2 blending effects collide :)

#28365

Ok Siwu, s'a shame...

I could have a go debugging on my machine for you, if you'd be willing to send source code over...

If not, s'cool... :(

#28366

ok ... cool prog. (Y) but, I just want to know, is it possible that the development of this tool will go until it is able to make only titlebar transparent instead of whole window. bcos I find it is quite hungry in resources to blend whole window. Everything will run slow, even moving a window. with only titlebar transparent, I think it should reduce the slowness. :baby:

#28368

It doesn't work on my home XP box either... v0.2.9 does, but v0.3.0 doesn't :(

Dagnabit!

When I try to run iBlend.exe, it (occassionally) shows up in task manager's processes tab for a split second, and then goes 'gain...

:(

Back to v0.2.9, I guess :(

#28400

IT doesnt work for me too. Nothing happens when I press iblend.exe!

Help Please

OK, so heres the deal. The windows only turn transparent on my first monitor, the feature works well. BUT, on my TNT2, the windows still move super-slow (unbearable). So is there a way to completly turn off transparency on one monitor, or a part of the screen. Because it seems like you still have transparency enabled on the other monitor, your just not using it, or something like that.

Thanks for the awesome release. (Y)
