[help] can't ping laptop...

hey. at work, we have a laptop that is not domained. ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew works flawlessly. tcp/ip and dns are all fine. un/reinstalled the adaptor. i can ping out to other boxes. this is a non-firewalled, wxp sp2 home edition hp laptop.

any ideas?

(btw, ping is not my goal. it was what i discovered while troubleshooting why the laptop isn't being recognized by our inventory software.)

could be that the firewall is blocking ping requests?

like i said, i can ping out and the firewall on the laptop is disabled. and heck, we ping all over the place. it's just this one laptop. but thx for trying! keep 'em coming...

stop trying to ping the toaster, it's not on the network... and that's not a firewall, they're heating coils...
