[Help] Video Card

I have a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 128 MB

I had to format today because of some error and now my video card performance seemed to drop.

I used to get 50-60 FPS (frames per second) in counter strike and now I only get 15 :(

Steps that I have done.

Updated DirectX, and Video Card drivers and Windows Updates...

Most likely a drivers problems, geforce4 ti 4200 is an old gfx card and recent nVidia drivers are mostly optimized for newer gfx card. Try your luck here, they got some nice drivers.

have you tried updating your motherboard chipset drivers? Also check your nvidia display tab and see if it's running in Pci mode, rather than Agp mode.

Actually new nvidia drivers are supposed to work and be compatible for older cards, however they add on extra features such as optimizing certain features like antialiasing.

Well I formated with the revovery disk instead of the windows xp pro, so now I'm running home edition and it seems to run a lot faster, not just the video card performance but the whole system.... thank you guys for the help

some problems happen when you don't uninstall the drivers correctly.. try driver cleaner.

uninstall the drivers then reboot, then when windows starts cancel the bit about installing drivers, run driver cleaner. install the new ones then reboot.. hopefully that will help.

Make sure you using Driver Cleaner in Safe Mode.
