ipod shuffle

anyone know why windows xp will not see my ipod shuffle. I pluged it inside a usb 2.0 port and the green light constantly flashes with the power led on the back not lit at all.

If i shut my pc down the front light turns orange and the back light battery led begins to blink. i dont have to have my pc off for the ipod shuffle to charge. do i?

installed the cd before connecting the ipod shuffle

have usb 2.0 ports

windows xp sp2

i do have flyakites OSX installed with sp2 could this be a problem

any help would be great

Faulty USB port. It is charging the battery but not transfering the data.

I had the same prob with my iPod 3G.

As soon as i got the new USB/FW card the problem went away.

There is a slim chance of a bad shuffle. Try it at another comp before returning it to the Apple store.

all my other devices work in my usb 2.0 ports I have six total and have tried all 6 and they all do the same thing" ipod shuffle" light rapidly blinks. Please tell me there is another solution I cant afford to buy the cable i just brought the ipod shuffle. I also tried it on another pc with usb2.0 ports windows did not see it and the status light only stayed on for a couple of seconds
