Music Subscription without the crap ware?

I've been looking into music subscription services, (because renting music fits me more, do not talk about owning your music and crappy itunes stuff, this is not a thread for that). But anyway everyone I've came across has one similar con... the software they make you download to get / use this music.

Is there a subscription service that lets you just play the music in wmp without those crappy programs? Price and format isn't an issue, I'm willing to pay more for not having to use a crappy program.

And has anyone used yahoo's service? how is that program?

I use emusic.com - it's limited in what it offers (not much new stuff), but there are so many gems on it. I've almost unsubscribed twice, but then found brilliant things that have convinced me to stay.

I have a subscription to allofmp3.com. Aside from the debatable legality, it's absolutely wonderful. I doubt the ease-of-use and freedom are matched anywhere else, although eMusic is probably the closest thing, as they're the only other service (I know of) that offers DRM-free files.

I just want to secound allofmp3.com. You can get music there for really freaking cheap. Plus you dont have to get software, but they do have software if you like.

I don't care if its DRM files or not. I just can't stand **** programs like "napster" and stuff.

How will they enforce the DRM without requiring you to use their own program? That's how DRM works, generally.

There are several subscription russian sites that have flat per-month fees, and are totally web based, but I don' recal their names...

Because they are all based on WMP, which you can still use to play the music with drm, but why must they make me use their ****ty programs to download the actual music.

Just signed up for the Napster Trial...

Only been on it for an hour, but I am shocked... Very decent, great library, decent program, decent quality songs... Cheap price...
