[Help] Monitor pink tint

Hello friends,

I am havin a Samsung Syncmaster 19" monitor which i got 2 yrs ago. I use that for my

Grfx works and Also web designing, Nuke themeing.

I also have a notebook which is 10 months old.

Till today morning , it was normal.

But now there is a pink tint. I tried adjusting the color profiles, settings.

Its same with my desktop too.

Since my notebook has only 1024x768 , i am using that monitor for all my works.

I have to do some designing for my college celebrations. Any help or idea would be appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

It's not your color profiles, etc, ... it's the monitor itself. I had a similar problem a while back, I used the monitors OSD, adjusted the color temperature and all was fine. If it's been "slowly happening", it's just "age", if it's just happened "overnight", I'd get the monitor checked out. If it's been happening on more than one monitor, try reseating your video card.

THanx jeffo. It seems to be a monitor problem.

Also none of OSD options help.

Its a sudden problem. It was fine until morning.

It happens both with notebook and desktop :(

Check if there's a speaker somewhere nearby your monitor and notebook. Especially active speakers are known to cause pink 'stains' on displays. If it's there, move it away and see if it helps ;)

No pe8er, There is no pink stain or speakers..

But entire Monitor is pink tinted.. . :(

is my monitor dying?

You could try this method, don't know if it helps but it has sometimes helped me out with "stuck" pixels on the screen. Originally posted at Tweakguides.com: http://www.tweakguides.com/newsarch_june05.html

Download this mpeg video and run it for a few hours.

Other than that it's time to get a new monitor i think!

@Pe8er - LCD monitors don't change colors with a magnetic...(I already tried) AHAHHAAH

Hello guys, as i mentioned, Its a CRT monitor :S

and there are no stuck pixels, only uniform pink color tint .

#307760

dude i think it could be ur cord for the crt monitor, but tht doesnt explain the reason for the laptop

try playing with the cord a bit

#307766

thanx ice, But wht to do with the cord?

i did the monitor test, and i found that green color is missing and responsible for the pink tint. :|

Is my monitor dying??

THanx .

I think so... I had a 17 CRT that I threw it away.... sorry

#307790

a crt and a tft both changed colors at the same time? dude, check your glasses, or, if you live in a dorm, question your roommate. sounds a lot like a practical joke to me.

#307948

hey ivan, that wasnt a joke  and its only crt which has the problem.. :(

As has been said, your monitor cord may be broken.

Seeing this pinout, maybe you can replace it or test if

pin 2 is OK and the wire behind pin 2 is still conductive.

Monitor cords can die if plugged and unplugged on a daily base or

squeezed around sharp corners. They also can't take tensile load for long.

Another possibility is that the green cathode beam has died - I doubt that anyone

repairs this kind of defect in this century, I'm afraid.

hth,

A lot thanx herd, I will check that. :)

If i cant :( i am buying a new monitor. :D

OMG my CRT is working now... *excited* .. i dunno what caused that, today i plugged the monitor again and it was showing correctly..

Anyhow i am afraid that this was warning....
