Aqua-Soft Forumsok, i've got a non SP version of XP. and an nforce 2 motherboard. my usb ports won't work, b/c they are 2.0, and my mobo disk refuses to install the usb 2 drivers w/o SP 2. i've looked around, and have foundout that the reason it won't is b/c i actually need the Microsoft usb 2.0 update. unfortunately b/c of my connection i can't download SP 2, i've tried for the last 2months. it just starts back over again. i'm on a 28.8 connection. i've looked online and seen that there used to be a stand alone update but that MS took it off their download site. does anyone know how i could get my usb ports working w/o installing SP 2? its not a huge deal for me personally, since i'm moving and buying a new computer, but this one is my parent's computer, and they need usb. lol i'll be buying an intergrated disk so.. they will still be up the creek. lol any help would be greatly appreshiated. btw, my mobo is a K7N2-L by MSI.

What's wrong with installing SP2?
You could write to Microsoft and request a copy. I think shipping is free...Best Buy or CompUSA may even have some copies.

the problem is, if they sent the disk i won't be here to install it. i'm moving out of easy driving distance soon. and there are no Best Buy or CompUSA stores w/in 100miles of me. lol my parents live way out in the middle of no where.
You can request a copy of SP2 on CD from M$.. they will charge you for it.
If you requested it today, you will have it my mid-week next week.
god, this is stupid, and typical microsoft. lol guess what? if you don't wanna install SP 2, and want USB.. just install the Nforce 9x drivers.. they say they only work on 9x/Me.. but its a lie. they install and run perfectly on non SP XP Pro. i'm using them right now. correct speeds and everything. infact, i checked it out w/ several of my friends, and they are the exact same files as from XP SP1. 
MS just wanted to force everyone to upgrade to the SP. *shakes his head*
I find stupid people that don't install all the latest updates from Microsoft. If they put so much effort and money in updates, there must be a reason.
yeah, and if microsoft wants to bloody well pay to have the phone company setup a bloody dsl station near where my parents live, so they can get dsl and actually be ABLE to d/l the updates, i'd be all for it. But, on a 28.8 connection, which is what you have when you live 15miles from town, and w/ 12hr reconnects, you can only do 99mbs, tops, per day, including the website graphics etc; when MS's pos update software doesn't store the already downloaded parts like its SUPPOST TO... its impossible to download 113mbs, much less 270+mbs. also, i bet you won't drive bloody 500miles just to come back and install an update on your parent's computer.. so bite off. i asked for help, and then solved the problem myself, and gave a tip to anyone else in the same situation. your comment was in no way helping. and btw, learn english, your profile says you're in orlando, so speak like it.
