returning an iPod

I received an iPod mini for Christmas '05. I have pretty much enjoyed having my iPod, except for the fact that the battery goes down so quickly. Anyway, I found a new mp3 player that is better than my iPod in quite a few ways. So, I want to return my mini.

However, I read that if I do return my mini, all it will get me is credit in the Apple store...which I do not want. And I don't want to sell it online, because my name is engraved on the back of it. So I was wondering...do any of you know if I could return the iPod to Apple and get cash for it or...something?

well, i doubt it, because if your name is engraved in the back, apple will have a pretty tough time reselling it... so it wouldn't be very feasible business-wise to give you money for it...

i think you will probably have to either take your chances on ebay or eat the cost.

i want to return/exchange my 4G iPod and get one of the new colour iPods with longer battery life and I was wondering what my options were. Is there any way I could do it without losing too much money? I live in Canada, so the stores we have here are FutureShop, etc.

lol at returning your ipod ,you guys have had those ipods way to long. Do what I did i sold my 40gb ipod for 200.00 now I have the color 60gb. You are going to loose money . Know one in their right mind would buy an ipod for the original price you paid for yours when they can buy a new one with color and more gb.

if you've had your pods for such a long time, you can't just return them and get your money back (even at half the retail price). Imagine a guy with his 1st gen iPod in front of Apple store asking for a refund, how ridiculous would it be??!?!

Plus, as someone has pointed out, you've got your name engraved on the pod, would you buy something with someone else's name on it? I think even if you're going to sell it on ebay, i doubt you can get half its price back, that's why i've never personalised my stuff, always think about selling it later, after having used it for a while.

Just try selling your pod on ebay then save for a new one :)

Good luck mate

PS: oh and next time, don't put your name on the thing :P :P

umm what exactly is the problem in keeping both? That's what I would do. Just because I don't use something doesn't mean I would return it or sell it. Keep it. Besides...it has your name engraved on it. I would keep it just for that. It's cool.
