Brushed Metal Gtk2/metacity

Ok i have been slaveing away at this skin for a few days...

my first try at something like this. Let me know what you all think of the look so i can either dump it, or keep going and get a few nicer resources... think it has potential? think its ass?

lemme know.

PS using modded lynchknot icons, will see about permission if all goes well with the look and distro comes into play.

looks good :)

i think you need some sort of highlight in the middle of the brushed though (look at an itunes skin for details)

#27722

looks awesome, maybe i should play with metacity. as for the highlight in middle, i believe thats only in the itunes, not the brushed osx themes. however if you do want to include highlights, please do it in a separate version. i really dislike the highlight in middle. it appears to be too bright and for smaller captions/windows it's just too noticeable.

oh and is there a guide for making metacity themes? right now my workstation is running windows but i'll probably use freebsd when i attend college. i might as well port the themes i'm using in windows currently so i won't miss them too much later on :P

Suggestions please.

caption title doesn't seem to be centered. let it stretch all the way to both ends but cut off the content margin at the buttons (if its possible).

otherwise its looking great :)

excellent work!! (Y)

Grand_Masta, I received your email. I don't have a problem but the buttons are not mine, they are Susumu's -

#28057

looking good :)

personally, i'd still like the highlight, but if you don't thats fine.

#28112

fissyb, i would love the highlight as well. as is some of the skin is tiled. like behind the File, Edit etc,, and some of it is stretched like behind the toolbar buttons, you can kinda see the stretch right by the throbber. so a highlight is pretty much impossible in this condition. I will do some research and see what i can come up with though.

Thanks Lynchknot. I am also using the aqua throbber may i use that? ..i will contact Susumi, if i can use the buttons i will probably make 2 versions one with the buttons from the first post.

and one with the sunken aqua new buttons.

if everyone likes this look as soon as i get permission from susumi for the buttons and lynchknot for the throbber I will release a first version of this theme. its still kinda ruff. but looks pretty swell.

CrusaderSean. could you be more specific about caption title, im not exactly sure what you mean?

and thx to all others for the kind words.

edit: Lynchknot do you happen to know Susumi's Email by chance?
