Windows TaskBar(top of the screen) Windows opening UNDER IT ??!?!

Hey there. First post and it's a question, *cry*

I have my taskbar at the TOP of my screen. Windows XP.

Now when I maximze windows they always put the minimize, maximize and cclose button part of the window(aka the upper most part, menu bar) UNDER the taskbar!!!! I can;t pull it down obviously because you need to click on that. Anyone know if there is a setting to rectify this?

I have these settings set for my taskbar as is:

Lock Taskbar

Keep taskbar ontop of other windows(if I do not do this then i can;t get to the taskbar.)

Group similar taskbar buttons.

Obviously if I turn off keep ontop it is fine but then I can;t line up my windows right under the bar like it would do automatically if it were on thebottom. Anyone know of a fix or having this issue?

might help if you provide some system specs, and a list of what programs you are running (like windowblinds, etc)

Right click on your taskbar and deselect "Lock the Taskbar". All should be fine. Reselect "Lock the taskbar"

I'm not using any addons currently. This is a common problem even if I use regular windows XP.

When i put the taskbar/starmenu ont eh top of the screen it makes windows appear under it.

Doesn;t seem to realize the bar is there. Could it be due to duel monitors?

right click on the taskbar, and go to "properties." There is an option there called "keep taskbar on top of other windows." This should be checked. I've had mine mess up even with this checked though, but if I uncheck it, hit apply, and then recheck it, it usually fixes it.

The problem is what ur saying, but I don;t wanna have to everytime I open a window have to click properties wait for it to apply and whatnot.

Perhaps there is a way to make it default to the bottom of the windows screen?

Are you saying that if you do that, and then open another window, it overlaps the taskbar?

if i'm understanding u correctly, there's a program called shove-it which helps to fix exactly that problem. u can set it to sort of "shove" any window, menu, whatever off of ur taskbar & some other areas i believe. if ur interested let me know & i can give u more info.
