just got that news a couple of hours ago. now, i'm thinking: how far would you go to get an ibook? stealing it from someone using it at starbucks? break in somebody's house just to steal their ipods? break into whitehouse security to force the president to mail 2000 powermac g5s to your home? even kill somebody to get a powerbook? man this is pretty funny and horrifying at the same time. those people in that scene are like zombies you see in movies seriously.

#309158

That is ****ing hilarious! You really don't even have to read the story, just look at the picture...look at the face of the police officer! I had a feeling this would happen. ;)

It's not funny, it's sad and the lack of planning on the part of the people holding the sale was terrible.

I find it disgusting that people find humor in the fact that several people were hospitalized because others couldn't behave like civilized humans.

CNN's lead story: http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/16/computer....y.ap/index.html

Beating people with chairs to get a laptop? An old laptop at that?? Sheesh....

#309177

yea I read about that mob scene in the paper... I wouldn't push an old man to the ground for a cruddy old G3...

Actually it was quite funny :P

I was watching CNN and first they aired a report how they got ass raped by a Win 2000 virus and the one titled "Mac mania" about the iBook iSmashing that happened at that school.

I laughed my ass off :P

On one side, CNN staff starring with glassy eyes at their perpetually re-booting PCs, on the other, chairs and fists flying in a fight over Apple's iBooks ^_^

Life is too good sometimes :P

speaking of the virus, i think it was a cnn anchor that said something to the effect of:

"you're vulnerable without the patch if you're running windows 2000. if you're running windows 97, 98, or 99, then you're fine."

who's running the show at that network?

#309200

naaah

wasn`t the CNN anchor.

It was their "technical adviser" xD

I think he works for McAfee (not sure though) or some other big-ass AV company.

Oh and i`m saving those iMob videos for posterity :P
