[Help] old systemfiles returned

Hey guys, i've a problem!

I replaced the systemfiles (e.g. shell32.dll, msgina.dll,...) with the ones of stefanka for sp2. I also rebuilt the iconcache with Tweak UI. So everthing went good - right icons, bars,... :) but only for the moment.

When i rebooted my computer the old files went back (folder icons, properties icons,...) :( *urgh these ugly yellow folders*

PS: I also tried flyakiteOSX -> this works

My System: Windows XP Home with SP2

Thx for all the replies I'll get soon ;)

you have to make sure you also change the files in your dllcache folder first... these are the backups that windows uses to restore if it notices differences in altered files... so by changing the backups, it can only restore with the altered files as well

Thx wookietv,

the fact is that i did first replaced the files in the dllcache folder.

i replaced the old shell32.dll (8.06mb) with the new one (15mb) in the dllcache folder after that i changed the one in the system32 folder.

but after rebooting the old files went back (that means the one with 8mb)

PS: i don't know if this is important but - after the reboot not everything changed to the old, it went "step by step", but if i rebuilt the iconcache again everything went back to the old :slant:

sorry, bad sentence ;)

Search your entire system for shell32.dll. Mark down all those locations, and replace ALL of them (don't forget backups!).

Sometimes there are OEM versions as well, I think. Use Iceman's Old-School tutorial if you want.
