icontweaker (the app)

could this possible be better than iconpackager?.....i think it's free and it claims to be able to change every icon.....but is it too good to be true. Can it be everything that iconpackager is and more?

please someone tell me more about this app!

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it. More info would be nice.

#303438

Looks real neat...it's about time I changed my icon theme.

#303442

Well, it's working fine for me so far :D

Thanks for the link man, much easier then reshacking shell32 (and i don't like 30 day trials :P)

#303499

this thing is cool. even icon-size is no problem. thx for the link. :)

#303519

woah so this app is good with icon size as well.....also does it work better than iconpackager?...or does it run inthe background?.....also can it modify more icons than iconpackager?....i have the full version but now it would would seem like a bit of a waste compared to a free app that can change more icons!

btw a lot of people are supposed to use this app ....i wonder if its good enought to be 'the' free alternative to iconpackager

I don't think it can change as many icons as icon packager (file types and such) but it changes most of the system icons and common file types.

#303533

well, one thing i´m missing is a manual-icon-change option. therefor iconPhile still rules for me (and comes without installation) but as long i can see most-used-default are change-able.

BUT STILL: this icon-size feature is really simple to use. worth a try

#303565

I use Axialis IconWorkshop and E-Icons, as does KoL.

#303595

iconphile and iconworkshop and e-icons....interesting....i'll try those out then

#303691

Ive used iconphile.............decent wouldn't say its the best

iconworkshop is good and free but not much file formats supported, also is png supported in iconworkshop

can't find e-icons link anywhere

#304082

so which is the best overall guys?

#304257

This IconTweaker is nice because it's free but I still like IconPackager because it changes more icons.

What would be really nice is if one of the developers here could create an app. that can change the unchangeable icons in XP (i.e. control panel icons) I know there are replacement system files out there but just having an app. to do this would be so much easier. :)

#304259

yer i mean i'd trust a community app much more than i'd trust a commercial one...also that way people will be able to add feedback easier....and plus it would be someone we knew making the app not some shmo that no-one knows!

#304261

I downloaded it, it didnt change many icons and re-sized some weirdly so they were blurred.

#304633

should i go with iconworkshop and iconpackager then guys?....can iconworkshop change more icons than iconpackager?.....im sorry about these stupid questions but i'd just like to find out from someone who has tested the apps out so i don't have to go through the hassle

#304738

I think iconpackager is a much better alternative but it costs money

like i said, a combination of these tools would do the trick. don´t be affraid to test them out.

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth...I use a free program called WinHand Madonote. I know it sounds funny but it allows you to change nearly every icon, plus it give you the option to add an extension to the right click menu to cutomize any folder.

I use it all the time and it has a lot of other cool and powerfull features as well.

And here they talk about it on Virtual Plastic

I <3 IconTweaker, here.

Been using it with IWS5.1 [and PSCS2] for everything ICONs.

IconTweaker can change everything I need: folders, icons, drives, I believe everything.

Then I double check with Axialis' IWS, which can change the all the same.

IWS5.1 used for creating .ICOs, Tweaker to use the creations.

I also love IconTweaker's ability to easily make manually make packages

and edit/save them again, simple.

oh right well that sounds good....im gonna see how iconworkshop works out....i'll keep you posted
