Aqua-Soft ForumsCould anyone out there tell me when Mac OS X Leopard is being released. I heard that they are busy with the creating and would just like to know how long I must wait!

The only thing known about Leopard is its name and that it will be released around 3rd quarter of 2006.

I'd have called a bad marketing strategy if MS released the SP2 as a separate OS. But Apple did that.

SP2 was a bigger update than Tiger. Tiger was a few updates to programs, a bunch of minor fixes, and one or two major-ish ones. Besides, it's Mac OS X 10.5, not Mac OS 11 and therefore it is NOT a new OS.
The advertising just makes it seem that way.
If you don't want to believe me, your choice. I'm just surprised how blind people can be to simple marketing tricks.
sorry, but i'm with domfel and pooky on this one. i just upgraded my powerbook at work to tiger and it's not that big'a'deal. honestly, i prefer konfabulator to dashboard. automater looks cool, but haven't delved in yet. and the powerbook takes backseat to my pc so i don't have enough data to really take advantage of spotlight. we coulda saved a coupla bucks and stayed at panther.
underneath the hood, the major overhaul to the kernel will definitely pay off down the road for developers and then ultimately consumers. but for now, i just got some new black and white walls. oh, the cool new 'shadow paper' screensaver.
too bad spotlite doesn't search google, like the searchbar desklet for avedesk...

The main reason why I purchased Tiger was for the screensavers! The iTunes Artwork and the RSS Visualizer are well worth it! 
I think it's stupid to even mension leopard now. When we mensioned tiger so long before it came out, there where **** all resources, only bogus images, like that corny one of teh tiger box with teh two tigers crossed over each other
But out of interest, do you think they will make a big change to the skin this time? (like how in jaguar, it is more bluging out and aqua-ish (and had stipes) and in tiger, removed most of the stripes, had the buttons more... stuck... in.. and, well... it is more like plastic than aqua to me)

I'm sorry..... Tiger from Panther increased my old 550 Powerbook's speed tenfold. I now boot in 30 seconds (before, it was well over a minute). Safari doesn't hang when I open a tab. iTunes can actually play a visualizer without lagging.
While you might not notice the difference on your high-powered processor computers, there was significant improvement in process handling in Tiger.

Thats what I thought......but my PC still sits in the corner and collects dust. I wish I would have never bought the damn thing and purchased a Mac in the first place.

guys the reason why spotlight don't search google like the searchbar of avedesk is that it is for a search engine for the files not for the web. safari search in the other hand search the web. avedesk's searchbar don't search files also.
guys we all know that vista copied some mac os x identities. but we can't deny vista bets tiger in many aspect in the os. ie7 bets safari as well coz it has a capabalities of depending phishing sites.

hmmm.. i dunno.. when I upgraded to sp2 I dont recall having any extra featuers that reallly made my computer run better. When I upgraded my mini there were a host of new things like automator, dashboard, built in dictionary, safari rss etc etc etc... Things that I use everyday now. I can only name one upgrade in sp2 which was that dumb ass security panel that I didnt use anyways becuase I had my own stuff which I had purchased. Go figure.
Still they do charge quite a bit more than they should.
I you think that in between OS 10 and 11 you have paid $130 for each point release, it does seem to take the piss a bit.
I know they add various features, but they are only honing the OSX platform. The same can be said of Vista in some respects to the core (though only a few respects) and mean while MS are rewriting the entire thing with Blackcomb (or whatever internal name it has now).
That and to get Vista (fully licensed/legit) is going to cost me only £10 thanks to work, but even discounted, Tiger still set me back £50.

yep. sure i want to see them too! also, i hope they still have flurry in Tiger. that's my most favorite screensaver in Panther.
yep flurry is still the default screensaver that came on my mac mini.
