The right Visual Style software

ok typical new*bie question...I am wanting a visual style and was just wondering what is the best way of going about this. I've heard of alot of the apps available but still am clueless as to which one to get. Im looking for one that will not eat my memory, is popular etc.I'm not sure on complete mac emulation as of yet ill see after i sort out a visual style.

Just use a UXTheme.dll patch.

don't bother getting windowblinds it's a resource hog...btw whoever said it was faster than msstyles it a total moron

#301602

Windowblinds uses only 1mb of your ram(and thats with per app running), if anything its the exact opposite, dont derall the thread into a OMG WINDOWBLIND OMGWTFBBQLOL??!?!?! thread

I think you've got that the wrong way around.

Anyway, use WindowBlinds maybe combined with Styler for more accurate Mac emu.

@ zondajag: please check such rude comments at the door. Different people have different opinions and let them express them, okay?

Yeah , uxtheme patch IMO.

Thanks guys, i have both windowblinds and uxtheme patch but seem to be having difficulty with the uxtheme patch. It says to rename the existing uxtheme.drl (somethin like that) to put old at the end then copy the new download one into the folder. for some reason i still get ''do you want to replace this file'' after renaming the origianal??

There is no "right" piece of software... depends on what you are trying to achieve.

So from that perspective, tells us what your expectations are and then it would make it a bit easier to recommend some options.

A hacked UXTHEME.DLL will only let you use third party visual styles.

If you want to go into a full on OS makeover, get an Object Desktop subscription from Stardock and let your imagination be your guide.

There are plenty of things in between.

windowblinds actually runs ***faster*** for me, just disable the native winxp theme service.

MS system checking is normal after replacing uxtheme.dll . A window popsup saying that your system files has been replaced, insert ur Windows XP cd now,

You should click Cancel if u want uxtheme patch.

Unless, it may replace the files from backup u may have.

If you are unsure, USe WIndowBlinds. ;)

i gave very clear instructions. drag in the original, then the hacked file. let it replace, then reboot. it can't get any easier.

you don't need to rename anything if you're using replacer.

I did face such question 2 days ago and decided to make a switch from 'Style XP & WindowBlinds & Styler' combo to simple 'uxtheme.dll modification & Styler ToolBar version'. Simple!

Being ignorant enough and talking about how you use warez is one thing. Encouraging piracy of an app widely used in this community is plain stupid.

This is you final warrning.
