[help] Miranda Won't Connect

For some reason MirandaIM won't connect to the AIM server.

I'm using

login.oscar.aol.com

as the server on port 5190. Same as with Trillian, and Trillian works fine.

Miranda won't connect with the default server settings either.

toc.oscar.aol.com

Any thoughts?

EDIT: I used port 0 to select a random port and it connected. Nevermind!

Be happy if you can keep that screen name for a week.

Miranda suspends them left and right for no bloody reason. :(

I'm experiencing the same problem as Qweedle Guy was, but even using port 0 won't work.

Windows XP SP 1, I updated the AIM plugin and the Miranda nightly, and it still won't work.

I'm really upset...any ideas?

:)

Thanks!

P.S: This can't be considered a bump because it's a legitimate problem :P.

[Edit: It's been happening for over a day now]

For anyone who didn't know - (probably) a recent change on AOL's end has left Miranda, which uses the TOC 1.0+ protocol, unable to connect to AIM. A forum member over at Miranda has released a beta version of the aim plugin that uses TOC 2.0 and can connect successfully, though is lacking some function.

This is why I like Aqua-Soft--answers :)

Thanks for the info blankfaze--got it working, and I'll keep my eye out for a less buggy fix.

Me too! I checked Miranda's forums tonight and found the mod after doing a bit of searching. Then I came here and found this thread right at the top of the list. I was like dang.

I do wish though someone would make a fully functional AIM protocol plug-in for Miranda though. :-
