Ok, you can just omit constructive criticism, no need to tell me what is and what is not allowed in the thread. I know exactly what can i and what can't i say in this or any other thread - You could just have said something like: " I dont use cleartype, thats why" and carried on; I wouldnt have replied to that.
Just a sidenote about the font-smoothing, there are 3 different settings on windows; No font-smoothing, Standard font-smoothing (what First-Knight is using and what is default in Windows XP), and Clear-Type (as close to OS X font-smoothing as you can get (with some tweaking too if necessary). So technically FirstKnight is using font-smoothing, just not ClearType Also, I haven't really seen many desktops improving in this thread except for some of the Mac desks and occasionally my own and some of the Windows desks. It seems like people are just following different trends and I don't know how much longer I can stand that aweful version of Handel Gothic on windows desktops any more...somebody should find a new font and start a new trend (which I'll probably also be sick of, eventually) Anyways, sorry about the distraction and on with the screenshots!

Some 800 viewers have taken a look at this Desktop today.. (From My Host..Monthly hits 3570)
It's posted in about 12 different forums, and it has got nothing but high comments.
I suggest to you that it may be your particular eyes, since no one else seems to be this enthused with my FONT,, LMAO!!
As a matter of fact this URL that Seph offered as a marker for the Clear Type font has the exact negative approach that he was trying to expand.

Now, I checked the options on my T41 and T40 and found that my T40 was using “Standard” mode, while the T41 was using “ClearType” !! I turned ClearType off on the T41 and the fonts jumped into sharp focus !!!!! Yipee !
Just to double check, I enabled ClearType on the T40 and it displayed the same characteristics as my T41 had.
Ironically, my colleague was suggesting we enable ClearType to help make fonts more readable, but I found it worked much better with it disabled. Must be because my eyes are much better (and younger) than his.
So there you go. I suggest that you experiment on your own system to find which option suits you better !
Ironic Isn't It..That some people don;t see the screen like others see it.....Amazingly Stupid Comments..Like everyone's eyes will be the same or will see the same..Go Friggin Figure.. LOL!!
Now can we get on with the non-childish portion of this thread and leave the Eyes,Font,Visual Attributes as a Preference that is Personal.. For some where else...And definately aquired as to the individual!

Er, do you know what aliasing is? It's basically this:

And cleartype basically Antialiases the fonts. Therefore, you're the one with the weird eyesight

Seriously FirstKnight, there's no way you can win this argument. Others may have complimented because they themselves do not use cleartype or just don't know about it, or they're ignorant, or they complimented on the rest of the desk and said nothing about the font, but I've used Cleartype on several different computers and comparing it to standard font-smoothing, it's significantly better on CRT and LCD monitors and on my dad's laptop. Perhaps the fonts look sharper without cleartype, but in my (and many others) opinion(s), smoother is better than sharper and Cleartype delivers the smoothest font-smoothing available for Windows.

Seriously Nico.. There is absolutely No Argument ..I don't prefer Clear Type Font..I like the font exactly the way I have it.. I am most surprised that others would try to tell me what looks best to me.. LMAO!!
Think about it... End of conversation for me...If I wanted my machines attributes to look differently..All 4 of them, I'm pretty sure I would set them up the way I like, not the way others think they should be..

Well I enjoy it..There are much more intelligent comments and attitudes on many, rather than the few where there are abviously unintelligent comments.

It's quite appalling how ignorant you're being right now. As Seph previously stated, we were offering constructive criticism, which is far from "abviously unintelligent comments". Quite the contrary actually, as I believe comments such as "great desk!" are someone unintelligent and useless, and in no way benefit the owner of the desktop except that those comments give them a little bit more confidence (which you must lack if you have to boast about how many page views your screenshots get (Seriously, who really cares? The amount of people that view your screenshot is "quite irrelevant here,,Quite ") so please, just sit back and giggle (which in my opinion seems rather immature), and try to be more polite next time and just thank Seph for his criticism and politely tell him that you won't use it (that way we can avoid such useless arguments like this) However, you are right about one thing, opinions and beliefs are quite irrelevant here, so to conclude my post I'll have a screenshot to keep the desktop thread from being almost a pageful of a useless argument (which I did not start but certainly hope I finished);
