[help] Display Colour Quality

For a while, i have been wanting to switch from CRT to LCD/TFT displays, but every time i try a new flat display, i always go back to my CRTs feeling that the colours on that are more reliable. I was wondering which displays in any of your experiences are the best (non CRT). I would also like to find, from your experiences, whether the apple displays are worth all the money, because if they are, i would consider changing to them.
