[help] how to use broadband without typing in account/password

i was plagued with this question since 2 years ago. when i bought my first computer, it was from a local shop, a pc, and they supplied a router along with it. they have no idea what account and information I use to get on the internet. so i made the setup like this:

Broadband Dialer-Router-My computer

.....................................I------Sibling's Computer.

as soon as i plugged in my computer's cables and turned it on, it didn't even show the dialup progress. as soon as i can use the comupter, i can go online. i was stunned.

usually, i have to instal a Netvigator (my broadband provider) program and that program provided from Netvigator will ask me for username/password, and it will dial up, wait, and then connect to the internet.

i want to know how these guys did this, and I want to know if i can do it with mac too. (i'm getting a mac )

I think he's using PPPoE? I've seen people with broadband have to "dial-in" to get online...weird..

Broadband is typicaly an "always on" technology... username and password access is not required by your ISP.

Just plug your Mac into your router and surf away.

The only time a user name and password would be required is if you setup something like a proxy server in your house that required authentication to get out.

EDIT: since you are not asked for a username and password, you're not using a PPPoE connection.

well, from the screenshot I need to dial up and connect. I know it's annoying.

how do i get it to not need entering password/etc? how do I set that up?

So it is probably a PPPoE or PPPoA connection.

Is your router a router/modem? - mine is and i have inputed my user/pass into it, that way - if the connection needs to be reestablished it will do it for me automatically.

seperate. there are two "boxes". one a router that supports two connections to the internet,one to a third computer and one connection is to a router that cannot dial up to the internet.

If the modem allows you to input said data then you are set - otherwise rasdial and/or other sofware will need to automate it...

Strange setup you have there.

I have read a ton of reviews about Netvigator and they were not real promising.

Regardless... it looks like they have Mac support as well for the Netvigator software.

Are you in the UK or HK?

i mean that they only support mac in linux. i know the diffrence ill try asking their tech support. but i doubt they will help me.
