Alright everyone, I broke down yesterday and got Partition Magic so as to be able to run some Ubuntu CDs I had on my PC. Now, I have a problem. How do I get my winmodem working in Ubuntu 4.10? It seems that no one is too sure.
[help] How do I get a Winmodem working in Ubuntu?
Give Us details :: ![]()
what is the make of ur modem?? What is it called in the windows device manager.?
Try looking in modem make or Driver details.
Visit LINMODEM for supported modems and download and install with the given instructions::
otherwise,
download scanmodemhere and run it from the terminal (after unpacking them, from the linux partition)
it will report the make of modem in the file called modem**.txt in the same place where ur scanmodem script is.
If u cant still make out, send them ur modems1.txt to guys here
PS: i am having smartlink chipset based modem (u can see the driver vendor in devmgmt.msc )
and the drivers are avaiable here..
Hope this Helps ![]()
