What exactly does Shell32.dll do?

I'm curious. Whats the deal with Shell32.dll? lol. i know. a ****ie question . but i'm curious, what's the file about? is it essentially the icon dll or am i completely way off? thanks

LOL, i guess it contains the main system icons, for all windows... as the file extention says, its a dynamic library... but i dont know what else does that do

To my knoledge, it is just a library of the system icons, which is what church punk already said.

When you replace the shell32.dll file with Flyakite's one, for example, it would replace all of the system icons, including the folder icons, startmenu icons, etc.

You could always use ResHack to change all the icons.
