Does Flyakite OSX use any resources?

Hey guys, I have a quick question...

Does flyakite OSX use any system resources? I know, dumb question, and the answer is most likely no, but the thing is that EVERYTIME i install it, automatically after i do, my computer is noticeably slower. startup time is, so is the amount of time it takes to open a window, etc etc. anyways, i'm just wondering... why does flyakite do this when all it's really doing is just replacing system files?

maybe it's the resources of the mods that slows it down. it takes a computer faster to load a program that uses a 20 kb file than the same program that have to use a 1 mb file. skins slow them down too. i don't really know

i'm not sure what you mean. flyakite is, for the most part, a set of hacks: replaced bitmaps, icons, etc. they can slow down the system, but that's only because you've tampered with it.

you can always create smaller, faster hacks by removing unused items (e.g. lower color depth icons) and reducing the amount of customizing apps you use (e.g. reshacking instead of using y'z toolbar).

thanks for the replies guys! well right now, my computer's hard drive broke, so this is a new one and evrerthing is fresh. the only thing, customizing related i have on here is windowblinds. i'm thinking of installing just the fonts and icons off of flyakite, because i'm thinking i want to avoid some of the stuff on there to make sure it stays kinda fast, and then i'll add more stuff as i go along, ie. systray hacks, and so on...

I would assume that since Flyakite is slightly more graphic intense that it would consume more of your system's resources but of course this assumption could be wrong too. I know the additional programs like Y'Z Shadow, RK Launcher and various others consume your system's resources but I wouldn't imagine they'd slow you down too much.

Flyakite uses modified system files (shell32.dll, etc.), right? If it does, and it adds more high-quality files (96x96/128x128 icons, larger bitmaps, et al), that will slow down the system to some degree, as it increases the size of said system files, and the system takes longer to parse them.
