[wip] Serius Music

Hi all!

Serius Music is a new project I've been working on. It creates a trivia game out of your iTunes music library and works a little(?) like Rock Star. Right now it's at a point that needs feedback from people, that's why I'm uploading it here.

I'd like to know about any bugs, problems, comments, anything. Post them in this thread or mail me.

In order to run it, you need:

1) Windows

2) iTunes

3) A few MP3s

How to:

1) Unpack the seriusmusic.rar package in your My Music/iTunes folder, where your iTunes Library.xml file resides.

2) After you start the application, your iTunes library is automatically processed.

3) Select a playlist using the arrow keys and hit Space to play with these songs (MP3 files only, well-tagged, at least 30 in a playlist)

4) The game asks for title, artist or album. Hit 1-5 keys before the 10 seconds run out.

5) Once the game ends, hit Space to start another game with the same playlist.

6) Hit Escape at any time to exit full screen and be able to quit the game.

looks nice but the problem is that I can't get my mouse to be on the game's window.. it kinda goes behind it

You don't need the mouse, dorsc.

Up and Down keys to move through playlists, Space to select.

Keys 1,2...5 inside the game, Space when it's finished to restart.

Esc to exit fullscreen and quit.

I'll include instructions and stuff, but the basic functionality is already there.

This is really fun. No bugs that I found. My only comment is that the intro before the game starts is a little too long. Otherwise it's awesome! Great job.

Christina, the intro was intentionally a little slow so that the game can read the whole iTunes library.

Maybe I could speed it it up or slow it down according to how many songs a user has in the library. But that also depends on CPU, which complicates things a little bit.

I noticed that the program played the songs a slower then they are supposed to. Did you do that on purpose or is it the way flash reads mp3s

Flash plays MP3 at 44100KHz sample rate. Other sample rates cause Flash to play the MP3s slower or faster.

Let me know if your sample rate is 44100 and playback is still weird.

I have created smart playlists in iTunes to pick just the suitable songs, with:

Artist is not (blank)

Album is not (blank)

Sample rate is 44100

Genre is ...(one playlist per genre)

Option #4 in every question shows up in Arial font while the others display in Trebuchet MS. Maybe that could be fixed.

Sid, all options should be in Times New Roman, except for 4 which was different by mistake.

I haven't embedded the Times New Roman font, but I thought everyone has it.

Can you post a screenshot?
