@CDi: They will import whatever you want upon request and bring it to your room as soon as humanly/helicopterly/jetly possible (ie. That Champagne from a local family in france that does not export a la other mainstream brands; That rare Caviar from Iran you tasted on your last trip to Teheran) - Oh wait, they include a personal butler that will cook whatever you ask him to (included ingredients) in your own kitchen (depending on your room)
Trust me, this is 7 star quality - been in it. Nothing like real gold applied on the inner walls >_<
That's the hotel in Dubai right? I've been in it too, we visited (not stayed) there on the way to India. It's crazy.

I just came from watching EPIII (yes, late, i know) in the biggest mall in the Middle East, The largerst so far until the new one is opened in September, in which you will find, among other things... The largest inhouse artificial Ski course (note: the weather outside will be around 40ºc or 100somethingºF )
Every time I read about UAE it seems like an outrageously posh and rich country.
It's the new europe, so much wealth and so much expansion, apart from some restrictions like a censorship internet proxy (no porn basically), its an ideal place to live. Don't get me started on the sales that some mofos over there enjoy *stares at seph with an angry face*, its become a shopping mecca, basically anything you want there you can get--cheaper as well. I hope to visit Dubai someday

Well, the West Edmonton Mall over here in Canada is still the largest mall in the world. 
There's a roller coaster, a submarine pool, an aquarium, a small zoo, a hockey rink, a lifesize replica of a 17th century Spanish galleon, among other things.

They filter all internet connections with a proxy. Since they have a telecom monopoly they can do this, and thus, they block pornography/anti-islam content/warez (ie - many torrent sites)...
Their system uses keywords: It looks for the url name first, if you get anything like, sex, hot, sexy in it - chances are itll be blocked. They then proceed to look at the meta tags of web pages, too look for insight on their content...
Sadly, this takes a huge poll on speed and worst than all - it blocks legitimate sites a lot of times, for which you need to file a complain form online and they usually unblock it if you have reasons and it does not go against the beliefs of Islam.
its not blocked in the emaar properties, etisalat doesnt have its reign there, sahm tech does, well did, taken over by DIC now
Dubai is a great place to live, with the amount of things coming up the city its just getting extraordinary, like the mall seph mentioned
Yes - Emaar properties get proxyless internet, however, the majority of people in dubai still have this proxy.
I do, however, feel a great speed difference when using internet in my office in Internet City or at Uni on Knowledge VIllage - damn proxy >_<

The food in Dubai is amaaaaaaaaaazing. I'm not sure the proxy thing is such a good idea if it affects speed greatly :/
