Why is Quicktime asking me to close Adobe InDesign (specifically) to run the setup
I knew it!! I called it in the WWSF thread when they announced a new Quicktime.
@neal - I noticed in certain things that there is some connectivity or interaction with InDeisgn, on Mac and appears to be on Windows. That could be why.
The Keynote is available in quicktime now! But it won't load

Might be skinnable then, we can only hope.
does it have that control like the apple one in fullscreen with the spirit like fullscreen video control

I've always wondered why people loved quicktime: I have always found it slow, prone to crashing and bloat your computer with startup entries that are totally unneeded (qttask.exe anyone?), and wont even play movies in fullscreen unless you pay for it... But then again, I've only tried the PC version, and I'm guessing the Mac version is much better.
I really am curious about the h.264 plugin, I wonder if it is going to replace the divx/xvid format. How is the CPU usage when watching these movies? Are they more compact than divx/xvid?

I agree with Phat-Liz0rd. Never understood the hype. At least not for windows users...
Yes. That has been my complaint with Quicktime for Windows. It seemed when they Windowized it, they also did everything else wrong that they have on other Windows programs: ugly and buggy design (the menu bar was terrible) and startup entries (that annoys the heck out of me). Quicktime is definitely better on Mac. Well you can't expect the developers of an OS to create the perfect program on another OS.
If they made it perfect, they might as well not make it for Tiger.
They could also just be recruiting members, in a clever way.

They proved it with iTunes. I am sure that the iTunes project helped them perfect the process in which they did the port, therefore could produce better apps for Windows. I am not saying its their fault for QuickTime and it should have never been done. I know that developers make mistakes, QuickTime for Windows was one. After iTunes for Windows, I knew they can make QuickTime at par with iTunes on Windows, and it appears they did.

I dont know, I see your point, but I would rather be motivated to change if Apple made absolutely fantastic software for x86. Making "bad" software, whatever the platform may be, doesn't really inspire confidence to be honest. And why would they make iTunes pretty good (The ram usage keeps bugging me, but I seem to be the only one who is bothered by that), and quicktime "terrible"? Alright, they sell songs with itunes, but why wouldnt they want to make quicktime as reliable and powerful as possible (I can see a bright future of selling movies online: quicktime could be a perfect platform for these things)?
To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried quicktime 7, but the other versions of quicktime have left a bitter taste, a bit like realplayer but to a lesser extent. I have the impression that the general concensus is that it is ok, but not fantastic. Maybe I'll try it, but most probably I'll wait for an update of quicktime alternative

Now here, since I installed QuickTime 7 preview.. things seem to have got better than before... I mean I really think my songs are sounding bit better than before. So I tried playing few songs on WMP10 and same ones on QuickTime 7 player... they definitely sound better on QT.
I'm not sure if it's really so or not, but I'm feeling it this way. So my personal advice would be... go get the QuickTime 7 if you use iTunes. Even though I use MediaPlayerClassic (Gabest) as my default player.. I've just set QuickTime7 as my default Mp3 player... 
is it me? or have i seen another thread about the preview release? :slant:

Where it gives the option to upgrade to Quicktime Pro..........is it talking about QT Pro for 6.0 or the public preview??? I can't imagine it being the preview of 7.0 but if so then I'm going to have to "upgrade" this thing to Pro.................

"We" don't all know that... on my computer itunes is the worst sounding player i've tried.
(Yes, i've made all the appropriate changes) It sounds muddy compared to any other player, especially on the highs.
I'm still hoping localhost releases mp with foobar passthrough.

Wow.. you need a monster of a PC to run the 1080p resolution trailers. I've got a AXP at 2.5Gig and it couldn't run it at all. 1080p WMVHD works fine so I'm thinking either the codec decoding is a massive processor hog or Quicktime for Windows still has some optimisation required.

LOL my 1.6ghz G5 runs it fine Imagine how it would run on a dual 2.7 G5 >.< *looks at stevie*
