[Tip] ObjectBar + YzShadow problem

I just discovered this a couple of days ago (today is Monday).

I always have this problem when ObjectBar and YzShadow is installed. When i open windows, they just disappear out of thin air. Well, they aren't really disappearing, they just go to the FARTHEST LEFT of the screen (you will notice this 'coz there is a shadow on the leftside of the screen, and YzShadow provided that shadow). And there's nothing you can do about it; you cannot move it.. the only resort is to fire up Task Manager and manually close them one by one. Well, i finally figured out what's causing the problem.

Disable TrayServer !!

This is what you'll do:

1. Open ObjectBar (don't start the YzShadow at this time)

2. CTRL + ALT + DEL to show the TaskManager window

3. Click the Processes tab. You will notice that there is a thing called TrayServer that's running

4. Click it then click End Process (don't worry, it will not mess up your OB even if it's disabled)

5. Fire up that YzShadow

6. Enjoy shadowed windows that are not shy and won't hide from you :)

*Couple of ireversible downsides:

- Even if windows are shadowed, the OB still isn't (any fix, amigos?)

- Even if you go to the OB setting and check the box that says "Disable TrayServer from loading at startup", it still does (bummer)

- (This is just me, since i use System Mechanic Pro 5) Even if added in the block list of Startup Guard, TrayServer still does startup mysteriously (maybe it depends on the utility to use. Try using your own favorite startup blocker apps)

Have a nice day! And oh, don't forget to save the whales!

there's also winfx

good stuff right there

#289936

Yeah winfx is great. But the reason i stick to Yz apps is because they're free. Nothing can beat free.

hm.........thanks. for the tip. il see if i can make use of it.

#289947

first of all. what the heck is a [sWEET TIP] no such tag exists.

second, does anyone know how to recover those windows that were affected by yz? coz my notepad and windows fax and image viewer went all the way to the left and i cant seem to fix it. TIA

#289955

read my first post. that should help you to recover 'em windows. but if not, try this:

1. right click the taskbar that represents the missing window

2. maximize it

so far, i think this will help. but if you don't want your windows maximized then i don't know what to do (yet). i'll try to figure out the solution asap.

and no, there's no such thing as a [sweet tip] tag

and yes, this thread is a sweet tip.

have a nice day!

Post once more in a wrong sub-forum and i`ll have you suspended.

I`m sick of cleaning after you people!

1. There is no damn [sweet tip] tag

2. This isn`t a proper place to post this and you know it

I hope this isn't considered bumpping, since I'm answering a question...

I just use avedesk to do the shadow for my objectbar.

Just set this (attached) shadow as the icon for a non-clickable shortcut (Style should be "aways on bottom")

Height: 19

Width: size of your screen

Alpha: 238

then, disable labels and leftclicks and you should be good to go

I tried this, and as soon as I disabled TrayServer, all the icons in the dropdown menu in the system tray (I think that's the right term, it's the thing on the right beside the clock) disappear. I can still click on them, I just can't see them.
