Internet Explorer possible virus problem....

Any help would be appreciated.

You see everytime i use ie, www.hotsearchbar.com always appears as my homepage... and i have no idea how it got there... and now everytime i view some websites (those not compatible with firefox or opera) files suddenly appear on my desktop... files that are not to be seen by kids :( is there anyway to fix this?

1. i deleted its cache

2. erased history

3. deleted cookies

4. added security

5. used pc-cillin, spybot, ad-aware

6. defragmented my system

7. checked msconfig and services.msc

TIA :)

1. stop using internet explorer, period. use firefox (its supports ALL sites)

2. buy/download norton anti-virus and nortan firewall

3. run anti-virus, ad-aware, spybot. all in safe mode.

4. delete the hotsearchbar folder(s),

5. run regedit, do a search for anything relating to the hotsearchbar and delete its keys/entries.

6. stop looking at pr0n sites. :P

It's been a while, but try this (I'm assuming you're on XP):

1. Start a Command Prompt by hitting Start->Run, type "cmd" (no quotes) and hit Enter

2. In the command prompt type: "regsvr32.exe /u C:windowssystem32winhot32.dll" (again, no quotes -- there is a space before and after /u) **don't close the command prompt

3. You should get a system message saying winhot32.dll is now unregistered

4. Open your task manager by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del and kill explorer.exe and any instance of iexplore.exe

5. In the command prompt type: "del C:windowssystem32winhot32.dll" (no quotes!), you should be able to delete the file, if it comes back with an error it means that the dll is still locked by a running process -- in that case restart in safe mode (by pressing F8 when you boot) and rerun this step in safe mode.

6. in the command prompt type "explorer.exe" to regain your taskbar and shell

S@M, might I advise going to: http://forums.techguy.org and have them help you if you cannot fix the problem. They helped me with every spyware problem I had on my PC. You will need Hijackthis to post on the boards. Do a search for it. :)

try looking for it's program folder. the source for it's power and annoyances. search for hotsearchbar using windows search and by doing that you will be able to defeat the dark side of the internet explorer.
