Switching Font

as i was trying to get rid of the ugly tahoma font that still appeared in many dialogs of my computer, i found this trick & wanted to share it with you:

Open regedit, make a search for "MS Shell", there should be only two instances in the reg, double-click the value & change it to "Lucida Grande" (of course make sure you have it installed). close regedit reboot your computer, & seek the difference...

i apologize if it has been posted before, but i don't think so...

Nice tip, now to change the default font for the icons and status bars. It's under desktop -> metrics in the registry but it's in binary and I don't know how to edit that.

You dont know binary, what kind of 0101001110010 are you?

"010101101010100001011010100110101101101011101010101"

ok then go to: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

and modify status font and iconfont which are reg_binary. I mean I could try modifyingit but I'd probably mess it up.

Here's what it looks like (it wouldn't let me copy and paste it to here):

well in fact i just think it's more os X like (& isn't it what we are all here for :D), & it just helps me a bit in believing i'm not running windows anymore lol

I noticed that too, but I don't mind. I kinda like it like this.

Hello all,

I work in my soulless "windows system fonts". It replace windows system fonts (MS Shell Dlg, MS Sans Serif and others) for look Lucida MAC Bold.

I released Soulless Tahoma but if you want it you could look tahoma as Lucida MAC Bold or Soulless Tahoma in all dialog of your computer.

I release it soon... ;)

#25680

Soon eh?

Anyhow, have you all realised that switching the fonts "Microsoft Sans Serif" and "tahoma" in the "ms shell" part of the registry, with "Lucida Grande" , not only gives you Lucida grande fonts all throughout windows xp,...

.. a good thing.

...But also mangles your "ok/cancel/yes/no" lickable dialog buttons beyond any worthwhile shard of recognition?

..discuss..
