**** Dock Questions.

Hey. The name's Mega. I'm a **** around here and got into the "turning yer windows into a Mac" buisness kinda a while ago.

So, heres the story. I'm tired of Objectbar and its extremely crappy magnification animation thing.

So... I tried RKDock.. not too bad, but, still needs a bit of work when it comes to Instant Messenger Windows. (When one IM window is minimized, all IM windows are minimized with it.

Tried Mobydock, TOO crappy.

Tried Y'z Dock, its okay, but, the fact that the application taskbar isn't there is a problem for me.

Aquadock, still crappy.

So, you see, I'm stuck here with Objectbar. BUT, I am reconsidering RKDock, if only the problem with IM windows is fixed.

So.. here are the questions:

1. How can the IM window problem can be fixed?

2. Is there an alternate dock I still haven't tried?

3. Is there an alernate way to make Objectbar to make it animate like the Mac Dock?

I do appreacheate the answers, if there IS gonna be any. XD;;

Your best bet for now would be to keep ObjectDock, but do keep an eye out for RKLauncher. I'm sure such bugs will be fixed in future releases. I mean, it is at 0.3 Beta, y'know.

Have you tried "Use Message Grouping" yet ?

Imho, that would solve at least some of your problems

Edit : I'm assuming you use Miranda here. If you aren't, then you should be actively considering it

same thing happens with Miranda in RKLauncher... the main list gets minimized too... and photoshop...

but hey it's still in beta and still it works well...

Why don't you use Trillian, then? I have no issues with RKLauncher and minimizing various windows of Trillian.

I believe Miranda works also with all three services you have mentioned here.

Besides, what do you mean when you're saying all the docks you've tried are crappy? Maybe you have unrealistic high expectations from these programs.

1. I guess you mean ObjectDOCK not ObjectBAR.

2. MobyDock is a good app. Maybe it's your setup that is crappy

3. AquaDock is a cheap rip off of YzDock

4. For the IM fix, wait till RaduKing fixes it

5. There were 2 docks that were never released to public so i guess you tried all the docks you could have

6. No there isn`t. ObjectDock is ObjectDock, not OSX Dock

7. Use tags next time. This would be a [help] thread

Well, thank you all for the responses. I'm aware that I might have had a high expectation for these programs, and I apologize.

But, for now, I'll wait till the next RKDock comes out, and stick with ObjectDock.

i'm using RKlauncher..

It's a good program, and i know still béta...

But i give a example, with objectdock, when a program starts or a new msn message appear in a conversation, you can bounch or give a other effect...

If there is somebody know how to do this is RKlauncher? I tried to search. but i just can not find it.

I like MobyDock...I have pretty much all the docks that are out there. MobyDock has the good Mac OS X animation, but it doesn't have the minimize effects yet. At this moment my dock looks surprisingly well to the real Mac OS X dock. If you have other dock skins you can copy them to the MobyDock folder and change the names and get the skin to look Mac-ish. Just play around with it.
