konfabulator betrayed by Apple?

Scenario: "Konfabulator is a society that produces a Software for Mac that permits Mac users to put different "widgets" on their desktop. And a day, Mac releases a new a new OS which includes "widgets". The Konfabulator app becomes useless for Mac Users and they wont buy it no more. So Konfabulator' team releases a Windows version of their app.

But suddenty M$ releases a new OS that contains widgets too!

What will Konfab do then?"

I don't think any MS's designers/engineers could do anything as good as Konfabulator since they really suck at designing things (just look at XP and the XBOX) so there is no threat to Konfab on windows.

This isnt new, in fact there is a long history of this, Arlo Rose (the founder/owner/developer of Konfabulator) used to work for apple, but they disagreed so he quit and started his own company. Also please realize that the concept of widgets was along way before konfab, so to say that apple stole the widget idea from konfab is wrong. Eitherway, konfab and dash are two very different things, just right now I reDLed konfab because I was missing timezonabulator and my other media widgets.

Although dash is good, it doesnt NATIVELY have the ability to display the widgets on the desktop, although it can be done via 3rd party software. But in the even that M$ were to integrate widgets into longhorn, like duyvan said it wouldnt be that well done and would just open up more security holes.

actually i was just going to say that, stardock (desktopX) are the pioneers of widgets and all sorts of stuff but funnily enough they havent EVER gotten the credit they deserve...they just continued to get bashed no matter what they put out :slant:
