OS-X-ified Windows XP on laptops -- battery power

This is just me, but with running all those different neat little tools and special effects -- Yz Shadow, Yz Toolbar, a dock program, different skins, Objectbar, little addons for clock and icons and Avedesk -- do they not affect a laptop's battery life at all? I'm not saying I can conclude definitely that they are limiting my power life, but the thought did cross my mind...

I havent seen any drastic effect on the battery time of operation. I havent run any experiment. I bet the battery runs out faster if the procesor is used more and the screen is on most of the time... or if you are burning cds o reading them.

from what I've experienced, they don't affect my laptop's battery at all. I'm on a PIII M btw

from my limited experience, hard disk activity is what kills batteries the fastest. hence, if your laptop has enough memory and doesn't start swapping when you load up all the mac goodies, you should be fine.
