I would love to see an app that collected all the folders and shortcuts from the Start Manu and copied the structure and contents to a folder named Applications. It seems like this would be an estimation of the interface the Mac Applications folder provides at least for launching programs.. Anybody else interested in seeing something like this?
Request for "Applications Folder" App
something other than program files folder or your start menu folder?
can you not just do it yourself? It doesn't take long to just pick out some shortcuts and copy them into a new folder...
Definiately is simple to copy the shortcuts I want to a folder...but then I only get the programs I pick and it only gets updated manually... the real reason for my request is that even though I skin the interface I inevitably find myself needing to access the start menu regularly which.. no matter how pretty your skin.. is a very un-mac-like interface. I've tried pointing a shortcut to the start menu folder but in XP there are two diferent start menu folders one is just for the current user and one is for all users ...the start menu combines the shortcuts and folders from both lists I was hoping one of the brilliant aqua programers might have an interest in taking up a project to make an app that would monitor the start menu folders for changes and automaticly update a folder titled applications with all the folders and shortcuts so that it would be possible to avoid the need to access the start menu... thats what I was hoping for anyway
why dont you just link to the folder where the startmenu items are stored, clean up the folder/ startmenu how you like, and it will get updated and appear similar to the applications folder.. as long as you install applications always to one or all users, there should be no problem.
