[req] Photo handling tool

Hello guys!

I'm waiting my new PB2005 17" and for now looking for apps i use on PC and its OSX analogue.

I need something to store photo albums... I need it allow to store original photos on different media (flashdisk, DVD, CD) and keep thumb of that foto on disk. Thats for i can watch all my photos in small size but when i need a full-size one - i can insert/attach disk and get it from there... Open RAWs... etc. In other words something like a PC variant i use for know: iMatch (http://www.photools.com)

Sorry for such tangled text (i only know technical english ;))

Oh! And thanx for answers ;)

iPhoto ?

I hear its little laggy and can't hold HUGE foto albums... But i don't try it couse my PB is on the way :)

I need to hold > 5000 of 5+mb jpg files + some 20+mb raws...

all (or biggest part) of this have to be on media (DVD or ExtDrive) but i have to be able to watch my collection without those disks... (little previews that stores on internal disk)...

Am i clear? I can't describe it more precise due to little amount of known english words :)

Yeah, I know what you are talking about...Ive been looking for something like this for the mac for a while...iomega used to make cd cataloging software that would do just that...kept a little thumbnail of all the images on certain discs, when you double clicked the thumb, it would point you to the disc that the image is on...the closest I have found to that is http://www.cdfinder.de/index.html..

good luck

Pyn, are you crazy?

I have a Dual processor 2.0 with 2 gigs of ram and iPhoto takes ages to load (compared to other apps, it takes much longer than PS CS2) with ~9000 images (~3 - ~5 mp each)

Have you tried Extensis Portfolio? or iView Media Pro? - they might have that functionality :)
