New Emac
I know. This is awesome. With the AFFORDABLE prices for once, and iTunes Store, I think Macs can finally become the ultimate "desktop" PC,like they were meant to be. I might actually be able to buy one now.
PS. Look at the customize, upgrading to 128MB more RAM costs like $50?? What they hell. I can go to CompUSA, Bestbuy, Staples, and buy that for $10. RIP OFF!!! *cough*
PPS. Your an idiot if you buy a mac now. Your gonna end up shelling out another $120 when Panther comes out.
PPPS. NO CDRW DRIVE? Even the $300 PCs have that. Its a $20 item. I wouldnt be so pissed, but you cant upgrade the eMac CD drives.
Id buy one....oh yeah!
BUT!
Not an eMac cause I have much better monitors!
So if Id buy a mac Id buy a PM1,42.
BUT!
For that price, I could buy the Fastest pc in the globe and travell alround that globe!
AND if it gets older, what shell I do with it, use it as a decoration in the kitchen???
I really dont know why is it not possib to upgrade the macs?
If a pc gets older u should replace the Mboard cpu ram and thats all!!
With macs it is impossible... I see people trying to sell their Macs... Sad!
So Apple corp should change that strategie, couse history is at the pcs side!
Only thing I really missed is OSX!
well, the PoweMacs are upgradeable..
anyway, OS X is just an added bonus to buying a Macintosh. A reeeeeaally sweeet bonus ![]()
and then you have Microsoft. Its their JOB to make OS's and yet they can't come up with something even half decent.. <_<

lol, they do make nice mice though ![]()
You can upgrade ram and video in a powermac which isn't as good as a pc obviously but it'll help.
Macs are supposed to stay "fast enough" for longer too.
Be honest, If u buy the fastest mac today, it will be an old useless thind at 2006 /3 yrs/.
It is horroristic to spend 4000USD in every 3 yrs.

the 867MHz Dual PowerMac was one of the best macs ever created. For some reason, perhaps the engineering of the chip itself, this model mostly performs at and sometimes even outperforms the 1.42 Dual G4.
Also, you have to understand that 9999999999GHz is NOT necessary. It would be nice, but not necessary. The 867, an old model, is STILL as useful today as it was when it was first released. This shows the long life of macs.
Alsol, check out the back of game boxes to see the minimum requirements. You'll notice that the mac requirement is half of that of a pentium-baed computer's requirement. Doesn't this say anything to you. I rest my case. ![]()
I'm getting one of these now over the 17 1ghz iMac. I disagree with maximus-gratus, if you need something for school or something like that than it is a good computer. It won't just die either. I have a 68k Mac that still runs smoother than the PC.
EDIT: just thought i'd say im getting the one thats $2498 Canadian, not the $1100 one.
I need something full of it not a dinky model. With 1ghz, built in airport extreme, 1gigabyte ram it is quite the good machine.
is it a good idea to save your money and not buy ram through apple?
does normal (cheap) ram work just as well in a mac?
From what it looks like to me, you could save $100's by not letting apple rip you off like that.
