Unfortunately, I ditched AveDesk - my computer kept randomly going up to 50% CPU usage and slowing down like a fothermucker, and once I closed AveDesk all was fine. Is it possible that AveDesk has some memory leaking going on?
Mind you, I'm running all these aqua emulation software on a rather old laptop. It's a 1.2/1.6 GHz P4 with only 256 MB of RAM. 
I know. I need a new one. But this laptop is rather reliable.
What does 50% CPU usage has to do with a memoryleak?
Anyways, a list of desklets running might help.

My previous machine was a 950Mhz Duron, which run pretty quickly. So 1.6GHz is not that slow 
What desklets/docklets are you running?
I was running:
3 x Shortcuts
Sysstats VC
And that's it. It would work fine, then suddenly CPU usage would jump to 50% - close AveDesk and it would fix itself and never have the same problem again...
Right now I'm not running AveDesk - disabled its startup, too.
hmm did you try taking out the sysstats vc?
im currently running 5 shortcuts
and 4 systats(2.5.4)

and the wall changer(DTP)
and with everything else running(rklauncher sysmetrix thunderbird,firefox,trillian, winamp etc.) cpu stays around 15%
im on a 2000 athlon xp.
avedesk settings
i have no modules.
no shadows on any icons or colorize
also have you tried just having avedesk on without any icons to see if the same thing happens.
