AveTunes... How...?

Hi everybody,

I think i have to apologize first, cos i feal a bit dumb :slant:

I just discovered a feature, AveTunes. If i am right, it's an apps to skin you current Itunes... right?

So, i saw a lot of skins to make your Itunes really, really RocK!

So i searched awhile to find a program to add this feature or download some plugins wich is needed to activate this nice thing. But, it seems that everybody knows how it works. I only can find topics or sites with links to skins, but no tutorial or a simple program to install something to get AveTunes working.

I saw some posts here of people who's also asking how to get this thing working.

But most people here asnwers a bit childish to the one who really can not find the information they simply need. I searched this forum for awhile too and i can't find the right information also.

So here's my quistion:

How can i really get this AveTunes work? Wich programs do i need for it and what procedures do i have to follow to get the basic things work?

I have the latest Itunes installed on my pc, version 4.7.1.30

Please could someone tell me and other people who would like to use this feature, how to get it work and where to download the needed files?

Sorry for this new-bee question and if there is allready a topic related to my questions. But i couldn't find it so far.

Thanks,

D72

To get Avetunes to work first you need to download AveDesk. You then need to download Avetunes.

You can get them here: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread....hlight=avetunes

Let me know how you get on and if you have any questions.

That's cool, i will get straight to on this one guys. Awesome for the fast replies.

But i have another question. I see we have to use AveDesk to get AveTunes run... right?

But i am using rightnow WindowBlinds to create my Mac look. Doesn't this conflict when i also use AveDesk?

Cos i don't wanna get errors... or other annoying messages of Windows.

AveDesk shouldn't conflict with WindowBlinds. I use both at the same time and haven't had any problems. WindowBlinds is a skinning application and AveDesk adds little widgets to your desktop. They are differnet from each other.

Oh darn... guess i should read everything about AveDesk. I read some first lines and thought it was a skinning tool also. My apologize for this stupid missunderstanding of me. I will get the AveDesk rightnow and will keep you posted in a minute.

Ok, i downed AveDesk and AveTunes and installed AveDesk and extracted AveTunes into the Folder of AveDesk... I tried to find an option in AveDesk to get AveTunes working, but i can't see anything related to Itunes. So help is welcome to get me further on this one. :)

#281267

Was the AveTunes file that you downloaded named: AveTunes.aveinst

If so to make Avetunes work, open the AveDesk Desklet Control Panel by right clicking on the AveDesk icon in your system tray.

Once you have the control panel open. Drag and drap the AveTunes.aveinst file from the folder that it is kept in to the white space on the Desklet Control Panel.

Avetunes should now install.

Go to Desklets, Add, then itunes / Avetunes desktlet should be displayed. Click on it to add Avetunes to your desktop. You can choose differnet skins to your taste.

No, i had a .zip file with a folder called '' AveTunes' a .png file and an .xml file

But no .aveinst unfortunately.

http://mpj.tomaatnet.nl/AveTunes.aveinst

This link should give you the AveTunes.aveinst file.

#281277

just drag that .zip file into the avedesk control panel

to access the control panel just righ click on the avedesk system tray icon and choose control panel, and drag into the white space

#281278

Yes, i knew this url. It's the name of a sub directory at this server and that this link will bring you to the .zip file. But i just found out that you can also Drag and Drop the .zip file into the White window of the Desklets Controle Panel.

Have you got it working?

#281288

Just a side note, AveTunes does not skin iTunes directly, it's more of a Remote for your desktop so you can have iTunes minimized to tray and have the little remote in the corner for easy control of what's playing.

I got it work guys, Guess i was a bit slepping or something. Actually, it's pretty easy to get this thing work.

Guys, you did a great job with helping me, i really appreciate it.

off topic..

itunes and winamp..

which is a better choice?

as in resource usage, stability..

i not too sure whether to include sound quality, but i would include it inside the comparison..

any one care to enlighten me..

or convince me to convert to itunes :)

#282219

Let's see:

1. I find iTunes more stable than Winamp.

2. Sound quality is far superior in iTunes (you need some enhancer plugins for Winamp).

3. The resource usage is higher in iTunes than Winamp but that's the price you have to pay for such a great app.

4. iTunes has a very, very friendly interface - in the beginning it was difficult for me, because I didn't expect such intuitive interface.

5. If this count a bit, iTunes is free.

I discovered also that AAC is much better format to rip music, but of course Winamp and iTunes can rip music as AAC or mp3. (so that doesn't count in the comparision... :P)

Of course that is my opinion, you are free to take it into account or not. I think the best thing that you can do is to install both iTunes and Winamp for a time, try them and find out for yourself which one you like the most.

I for one, was never a big fan of Winamp (especially 2 and 3) and I will always choose iTunes over Winamp.

So, it's a pretty subjective choice, the best is the one you like the most.

Another lovely question:

With Avetunes installed and Avedesk 1.2 up and running, certain skins-- although they start nicely and look beautiful-- won't load the song name/album name/etc.

Is this because:

a) the skin is just like that?

B) my Avetunes version is old...

c) my computer is Lucifer...

thanks for your help :)

umm I tried downloading avetunes from all of the links that you guys have provided but none of them work because it says that the link is not in the server...
