It'll be interesting to see the mim specs to view H.264 videos on windows, as the min specs on a mac are somewhat high
i'm just interested to see if Apple decides to give QT7 a new skin... Come on Apple.. get rid of the ugliness of Quicktime PC.
I hope they give QT7 a new skin, because the current skin is just plain ugly.
Ever since Q7 came out for Mac I've been checking that page every day, hoping that "Quicktime 7 for Windows Coming Soon" would be gone. If they give us the same features as the OS X version and make it look like iTunes for Windows, I'll be very happy.
No offense to any of you guys out there, but QT to me has always seemed to me Apple's only pointless piece of software. The basic version offers almost nothing...hopefully v7 will help. Perhaps it's the fact that it's crippleware.

Apple doesn't own H.264, right? So couldn't other players like VLC add it? QT's bulky and pretty much every other player is better.

H.264 can be licensed so I am sure VLC can add support
also take a look at this
Will application developers be able to access H.264 via QuickTime APIs?Yes, H.264 is built into the QuickTime media architecture just like other QuickTime video codecs. So application developers can use QuickTime APIs to add H.264 encoding and decoding capabilities to their software products
go to Apple's H.264 FAQ to read more.....
It should be important for Apple designer to make a QT7 for Windows new skin, because current version (from beginning...) is very bad/ugly/etc.. I think that's the reason why Apple want's to watch their trailers and music videos in iTunes as QT plugin... heh. If they'll change the look of QT maybe we'll decide to use it for watching something more than trailers. :-)

QT for windows has always been cripled when compared to the mac version, I think they do it on purpose so as to give you yet another reason to switch. That would explain the, intentional fugly skin ![]()
newest ffdshow decoder from afterdawn.com actually installs h.264 support
havn't tried it out just yet though;)
H.264 is an open standard format.
Apple doesn't "own" it, they just chose to aquire a usage license and implement it in QT 7.
Developers will need to aquire a separate license if they wish to include the codec in their products.

I don't see Apple's name listed in there anywhere, but I do see M$. Makes one wonder why H.264 codec is not included in WMP 10.
maybe M$ will give us in short time ability to... buy WMP11 with H.264 ![]()

Yeah dude where did you find that pic, I've tried to find out info for Quicktime 7 on PC and can come up with nothing. Don't know if that's the real skin but its a start compared to the previous versions.
I think that's regular Quicktime and their music video uses that new format so you need QuickTime7 which isn't out yet, go to http://www.weezer.com/downloads/ and check it.
