Recently I made the switch to Aston shell, and I must say it is as light on the resources as Litestep, but with much easier configuration.
Great, imo worth the money, but...with Aston Avedesk is not functional :confused:
Question: Is it possible to make AveDesk operational under Aston, or does it need explorer.exe per sé?
If so can Avedesk be made compatible with alternative shells in future versions?
yeah, investigating.. I never use an alternate shell, so I think I should try it out on a virtual machine.
I do think however that's also a slight problem with the alternate shells. They should be designed in a way that they mimic explorer 100% with concern to API/resources.

You can make it co-exist with explorer.exe.
Alternative shells truely can do wonders for your resource-usage.
So far I found out that Litestep (use latest: installer & for instance this Panther theme works just fine with AveDesk. But, although as much as it is light on resources it is hard on configuration.

It does come with a free download & 30-day trail and then nag screen or cough-keygen-cough.
Anyways, Deviantart has quite a few quality themes be sure too check out. Actually it's very cool, but unfortunately...no AveDesk compatibility yet...
Be sure to check it out. Maybe you can discover why it doesn't work with your app. Or somebody else experienced in this field?
