Why do we continue to aquafy?
a) Because we enjoy the challenge of customising
Because we want to rebel against Bill Gates and his evil/awful OS
c) To be part of the aqua community who shares, competes, discusses and encourages
D) To compete against others to get the best look
e) Other?
f) Or to simply enjoy the beautiful sleek looks of Mac OSX

Who cares about Mr. Gates, or any of the other crap... I tihnk the reason for all of us is because OS X looks so flawless...
prolly because we are bored at how windows looks like
my question was why do we CONTINUE to aquafy?-And sorry Unbe I couldn't find the sub thread ur on about.
I mean yeah sure we love the look of OSX, but once we have an OSX theme on our computer why do we go for other variations?
Or is it for the quest of Aqua emulation perfection?

Well....... I don't *Aquafy*........But I do enjoy toying around with the many different programs available...
As a matter of fact....My regular desktops are extremely empty....Never an icon, or widget, or calendar..Or anything for that matter..Just the wall and my upper always hidden taskbar....
It's a hobby, meant to be FUN...A personal preference on a monitor screen...When it stops becoming fun, you're doing it for the wrong reasons.
It's great to see what everyone likes and considers perfection...Letting it become a challenge amongst others is a very sad situation... Do it because it's *YOUR PERSONAL PREFERENCE,* not because you have an inner desire to be the best..(There Is No Best..How can there be in a personal preference situation..Colors/Configs..Etc,Etc all belong to the eye of the beholder...Think about it??). It's a bit of work that you like to share with others..It's no more or no less than that!
Reasons? Let's see...
I always have a Mac-ish themed OS X skin through WindowBlinds for I V E R Y M U C H feel more comfortable with the top-left close, min, max (zoom} instead of M$'s top-right min, max, close formation.
I have a Dock (currently: RK's).
Then sometimes I don't and find out I can do without
until I see some Mac skin overhere or on emaculation, PearPC.net or MacThink.net and decide that my desktop is kinda empty without a Dock and I re-install one again.
I sometimes have a Finderbar.
Until I get pissed off for buggy Objectbar 1.65 screwing up again
and I have to disable it one reason or another and find out I can do without,
so I completely uninstall after a while.
Until I get that I-want-the-full-OS X look and re-install Objectbar with some CRNI skin, which context menu I alter to my liking.
Sometimes I'm almost completely Vanilla Windows (minus Mac-ish WB skin) and think I can deal with it, until guys like Flyakite come up with some overall Aqua-mod and I'm caught by the beauty of translucent blue gel on pearly white marble again...
Now we're thinking 
Curiously enough, I've found that it has a calming effect. I switched to Classic to see how it affected resources, and found myself stressed out the entire day. Silly that something that small has a big effect, but PM2K5 has its calming blues and greys.

But I have to agree with nightcrawler, I get stressed looking at something which reminds me of the early medi-eval days of windows...something futuristic looking is calming (such as OSX)

People enjoy Aqua.
Its the perfect theme for humans.
Its hard-coded into our genetics.
Apple did studies to create the User Interface Guidelines.
People just don't want to spend the money on a new Mac.
Let's just say this, I love aqua so much, I bought a Mac Mini.
Now if only Mail looked more Aqua-ish (in Tiger) I'll be in Aqua Heaven.

and lack the versatitility of a PC...not to say macs are not versatile...but they don't support for pc software/freeware despite the fact most of the osx software rocks!...
EDIT...I don't use widgets and like my desktop clean...I just love the convenience factor of the osx interface,
and of course the look, but more than anything i am addicted to aquafying, its an addictive little game than rewards you with style and convenience...but it eats away a lot of time fast.
Kabal's finderbar and Y'z Dock are two awesome programs which i love- they are so convenient!

well i just aquafy to get a unique look for my computer that i like...i couldn't care how anyone elses pc looks or about Kill Gates....i don't mean to imply that i hate all other peoples desktop layouts all im saying that if it looks good thats great, end of story...
I'm always bored, and as far as I see it, aquafying windows is a great challenge
it was a fun thing to do, and know im just usto my pc looking and acting aqua-ish, i get so confused when i use some one elses pc.

to tell you the truth, i don't really know. i guess everything except D and E. so that's A, B, C, and F. (oh gosh i feel like an kindergarden teather ) and i'm quite suprised that this thread was revived.
