about paul thurrott

i just read some stuff on his site and he pisses me off! although he does have some good points here and there but that will never outweigh his lacking commonsense and stupidity!

http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/macosx_tiger.asp

he says "Apple Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" is the strongest OS X release yet and a worthy competitor to Windows XP "

here's another article that gets me pissed off too.

here's a thread about his review and site. worth reading!

in conclusion, he is a pro windows, biast geek. he does like macintosh but he thinks that windows is the best operating system and 30 years ahead of apple's operating systems.

Well imo, tiger is crap compared to other OSX releases, but yes he's wrong Tiger is more of a competitor to Windows ME

#276520

I for one MUCH prefer windows over OSX despite looks.

But then looks is pretty much the only advantage OSX offers IMO.

Tiger is more of a competitor to Windows ME

why?

anyways, technology writers are bores.

I once emailed him nicely asking to detail to me exactly why this so-called "task-based" XP system was superior to the "desktop analogy" of OS X. He never replied, of course.

#276559

OSX is a better operating system, those who do not have it are just jealous :P

#276562

Well, he has it, he's just fundamentally biased. He has to be, or all the windows fanboys who visit his site will hate him.

Paul's didn't get me too pissed off but that second article was a god damned bombshell!

And for the copycat Mac OS X and Linux platforms, where innovation equates to copying the feature set of Windows, the bar has been raised yet again, this time to stupefying heights.

I agree that this was a bit harsh. So a few days after posting the review, I modified it--qualified it, you might say--to the following:

And for competitors such as Mac OS X and Linux, where innovation often has lately equated to simply copying the feature set of Windows, the bar has been raised yet again, this time to stupefying heights.

I don't think Apple made most of it's innovations from Microsoft.

Microsoft seems to get more ideas from Apple than Apple does from Microsoft.

What was the last original thing Apple made? Expose?

Either way its the guys opinion on something, hell I think tiger sucks compared to panther.

#276600

yeah, but some opinions are lame.

I don't think innovation's too important right now in software - they need to polish old ideas, which is whats been happening for the past decade for all os's. Especially as hardware always lags behind ideas.

steve jobs is just as much as a whiney bint as this paul guy, but at least he's helping build something half decent.
