[help] Similar GENIE effect in Mac OS x for Windows

does any1 know how to emulate this kind of effect? without using windowfx? TIA

well i saw one with a fade out/in effect: alphaxp

The Genie effect is patented by Apple afaik. If any piece of software tries to copy it for Windows, Apple will probably serve them with a cease and desist order.

Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Also, "genie" is a word not commonly spoken on these forums - like the dock-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned ;)

You can achieve the window minimize animinations with WindowFX by stardock. You can find more information about the "genie" effect for WindowFX here: http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?...nID=28&LibID=30

Enjoy.

but my winfx eval. period is over... i dont wanna buy :)

So then you use war... *cough* sorry..

@ amitsaraf32: You could get away with that if it was a skin/script/widget/plug-in, etc for an other application, for example the ones for WinFX. (they are both really crappy anyway)

A little irrelevant, but just incase you want to know, in Mac OS X the Genie/Vacuum effect is not the default. I can't remember how you activate it...

^^ I agree !

Those animations slowed my machine to a crawl. I deactivated them like this /snaps fingers :)

Now I only use shadows and maximise to area with WindowFX :D

#275597

oh ok... nvm then.. :)) just wondering how it would look like..

When I was running on PearPC with 1.3.7 installed, it had it enabled by defualt.

Either way, it's either you make version that does not replicate the effect, or you get it before Apple does.

The genie effect is is on by default. The scale effect you have to switch on in the Dock preferences. You can also turn on a suck in effect with 3rd party tools like tinkertool.

Same thing....

How about somebody make a dock that has built-in genie transitions... FOR KDE!!!

Get out of your windows world, it's not worth it (Okay, I took thatg quote from apple switch, who cares?)
