some questions.. please help :)

hello guys

my first post in here and i hope i'll find some help, can i make a shortcut for my adsl connection and i want to be 100% functional like im double clicking on my connection in Network Connections.. like when i click it when its connected it shows me the status window and when its disconnected the connection window.. if not possible, what is the closest thing i'd get ?

another thing, can i make the shortcut created by avedesk on my desktop reserves its place ? like when i download smthn on the desktop it will show below these icons, not under them.. as i have the icons created by avedesk on the top left and windows arranges the icons from there, so they always show under the big avedesk icons ( it's a bit struggle to dig under it :P )...

thanks a lot guys, i'd really appreciate some help here. thanks

@Brainbug, the trick is that you lineup some 100% transparent small icons under those big avedesk icons.. will work this way, it works a treat if you really want it :)

Closest thing I got is:

1. add an empty pidlshortcut

2. open desklet properties, switch to tab "Shortcut"

3. drag your modem or whatever connection from explorer to the first text box under "Path".

This thing will behave similar - yet it does not seem to process the default action, but you can have all the available actions like "Connect" "Disconnect" and "Status" in its context menu just a right click away.

hth,

Strange indeed. Same behaviour here, although I am just invoking the default action...

It's pretty much an optical illusion. You are going to place an icon on your desktop. The trick is to have the icon be nothing. Do you know how transparency is used to shape the icon? Well, basically your icon will be blank. So you place that underneath the desklet to block anything moving there.

You may need to position it right, because like myself, the desklets are not the same size as my icons. Kind of a cheap trick, but it gets the job done.

I hope that helps.
