[help] iTunes for Windows and memory use

Why the hell iTunes for windows uses so much memroy?!

It's so annoying, is there a way to fix it?

you have to add "Itunes Helper.exe" + "Ipod Service" so 3,982+5,884

totally we have 45,552+3.984+5,884=55,42 Mb of ram occupied by mess :P

use winamp and put Itunes in the trash.

Mine uses less than firefox and i have the time constantly updating in the title bar which pushes it up a bit.

Well, if it's really bothering you I'm afraid you'll just either have to deal with it or switch players as iTunes isn't known to be the most efficient of music players (try foobar2k or Winamp), in fact I'd say it's one of the most inefficient ones. You can try installing iTunes Multi-Plugin as I believe it reduces the memory taken up by iTunes when it is minimized to system tray. Also, comparing who's iTunes uses what quantities of memory isn't going to help as other factors such as how large your playlist is will change the amount.

I've noticed that mem usage, as mentioned above, is directly related to the size of your library and peaks if your using a visualisation. My usage is terrible but I simply love the way iTunes handles my mp3s and the simplicity of the interface. I take the hit because I prefer iTunes over Winamp or similar, inc enhancer which I've also tried. I'm sure once you start adding DSP enhancers to players it comes down to simple preference with how your particular system is set up.
