What Is The Best Program To Clone An Xp Hardrive ?

If you got a C: Drive 30Gb drive with WindowsXp and would like to clone it to another 80-100Gb Hd with the bootable WindowsXP in it .....What is the Best Program to Clone an XP Hardrive ?

Would I have to adjust the partition size from 30--->100Gb after I clone it ?

Will it work with NTFS formatted drives?

I use Powerquest Drive Image to clone (and backup) my nicely (sic) tuned XP system so I don't have to reinstall everything when it crashes and/or needs a fresh install.

Powerquests Partition Magic should manage all your partition needs. I've used it a couple times, and it's simple to use. And yes, it works with NTFS.

No, I'm not working for them, they just do great programs. Saved my ass a couple times.

Good luck.

I've seen a friend trying Norton Ghost, and it looked very good. Boots its own OS, in order to restore your HD in its previous state (even rebuilds partitions if you want to)

Haven't tried it myself, though.

Good luck!

Thanks!!! I remember there was a couple of professional progs. , one called DNA I believe, but probably Ghost or Powerquest or MaxBlast are good too.

acronis true image deluxe, and norton ghost i have heard good things about. ;)

Presently, Acronis True Image has the leading edge, as a magazine recently found out with complex tests (the c't-magazine).

They did a lot of tricky things to HDDs and clone, partitioned them and so on... True Image was the one passing all tests without any error.

For what you want to do, all the tested products seemed to work (Norton, DriveQuest, etc).
