[help] What's a good external drive?

Hi,

I am looking to buy a ~100GB (more or less) external drive for storage. I'm looking for a cheap but reliable drive that will work on both Mac + PC well. Any suggestions? I checked out the LaCie's at the Apple store. They were cool, but there are cheaper, but is there a difference in quality? Also, my friend suggested to take an internal drive and put in an external case (or something).
